Vision and Strategy

The Conservation Agriculture Service Center (CASC) is one of the center of the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). CASC envisions to:

  • Improve the resilience of farming systems through the use of ecological-based cropping systems built on a high functional diversity for contrasting climates, social and economic conditions,
  • Increase grains and fodder productions, while restoring ecosystems services (i.e., quality of soil, water) and generating others commodities,
  • Strength human capacities through the development of training and educative programs for the main stakeholders (i.e., farmers, agronomists/extension staff, researchers and professors), and facilitate the emergence of farmer-led organizations,
  • Facilitate consultations, exchanges and collective decisions within the communities and amongst stakeholders to design scenarios of sustainable farming systems and landscape management,
  • Build connections between stakeholder groups, particularly farmer-led organizations, entrepreneurs, financial operators, and relevant government agencies,
  • Facilitate the dissemination of the information through diverse tools of communication.

Innovation platforms (i.e., field experiments, on-farm demonstrations, and technical support to farmer groups and service providers as a support for collective learning) are established in key agroecosystems in the provinces of Battambang, Kampong Thom and Kampong Cham. A large biophysical (type of soils: Oxisol, Sandy podzolic, Mollisoil; topography; hydrology) and socio-economic diversity is observed throughout these locations.
