Improving soil fertility and fodder sources on 80% sand!

In the irrigation scheme of Stung Chinit (Kampong Thom province, Cambodia), diversified no-till cropping systems were designed for lowland rice production establishing cover crops (Stylosanthes guianensis and Centrosema pascuorum) just before or after rice harvesting. These legumes grow during the dry season on the residual soil moisture and produce up to 20 tons of fresh matter from December to early May.

Farmer in Rattanak Mundol district (Battambang province) diversified their NT systems sowing or broadcsating mungbean just after harvesting maize. Sowing was done with a NT planter (4 rows).
